Cumberland River #1
Me and a few friends went down to catch some trout and striper. Camped near the Dam. Arrived at about 530 am to dozens of very large brown trout jumping and cresting all over. Water conditions are paramount here, the generation schedule will kill you. Check that out before you plan anything. We did well in the 3 days we were there, took aa couple nice sized walleye, few sauger, and an ungodly number of skipjack on shad colored cranks at varying depths. Yellow and white rooster tails seemed to be the ticket for trout, caught decent numbers, no trophies though.
All in all it was a great trip, hotter than hell this year, but that water is FREEZING. Waders are a necessity, not an option. If you're down by the dam you can fish from the bank, but anywhere else, wading will increase your chances tenfold.
