Starrow Pond 9-8-2011
Wanted to fish in the rain this morning, so I headed to the Hale Reservation. I've had good luck at Starrow Pond lately, and I figured the rain and cooler water would bring the bass more shallow. It did. I was there maybe an hour, caught two keepers, a dinker, and had a few other bites I didn't hook up. YAMAMOTO SENKOS - black with red flakes. I stress the brand. It's worth the extra cash.
I hear this pond is stocked with trout. What is the best bait to catch them there.
Hey Jesse, from 109 in Westwood, turn onto High Rock (only one way to turn) then make a right on Dover Rd. Follow that to Carby St and go left. Follow Carby into the reservation and keep following the road. A little ways in is a split thing that says keep right. Soon after is a single gravel parking space where the road curves next to a small stone building. Park and follow the dirt road downhill and to the right. Follow the trail about 1/4 mile and you will hit the pond. Several fantastic shore spots, never other people.
How do you access this pond? It's in Westwood?
You aren't allowed to put a boat in there so I fish from shore. There's def some good shore spots. Actually, there's a little fishing dock that produces some quality action
The 16-incher was the biggest I've caught there. 1-1.5 lbs I'd guess. Do you fish on land or in a boat on Naonett?

very nice. I was also at Hale today fishing the larger pond, Noannet. The fish were definitely biting. I caught 7 bass, 4 were keepers and I had a giant bass snag me in the rocks. I've fished storrow before, but I'm skeptical that there's anything all that big in there. What's the biggest you've caught there?
